Turn your Photos into Sketches

Step 1:

Press CTRL+O (Open File) and locate the picture you want to make a sketch. Select it and click
on the open button.

Step 2:

Double click on the “background” layer in the layers panel. A diablog box will appear, just click on the ok
button.

FAST FACT:

This will remove the lock on your background layer. By default the background

layer of any Photoshop document is locked which means it does not allow
editing. By doing step 2, you will be able to unlock the background layer.

Step 3:

Press CTRL + SHIFT + U or go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate.


Step 4:

On the Layers Panel, Click and drag layer 0 to the “Add new layer” button located at the bottom of the layers panel.

Step 5:

Select “Layer 0 copy” Layer and press CTRL + I or go to Image > Adjustments > Invert

Step 6:

On the layers panel, set the Mode to “Color Dodge”.

Step 7:

Add a Gaussian Blur Filter. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Adjust the radius until you find the value that would make your picture look like a sketch. for this example i used a 2.4 pixel gaussian blur radius.

nice.!!! thanks for the tutorial.. sometimes the other online tutorial are difficult to understand for beginners like myself..^^
